The Royal Enfield Meteor

Royal Enfield has launched a new bike in its lineup The Meteor 350 or we can say the upgraded version of Thunderbird 350 .
Meteor though borrow some looks from the Thunderbird but it's a complete evolution of its heart as well as the complete frame is new on this motorcycle  ,each parts used in the engine are new and promises to give a new experience to RE fanboys .
What's New .
The Meteor is longer and lighter when compared to Thunderbird . Royal Enfield has also  taken care of small things like the switches which are completely new and gives a retro feel .
It has got windscreen on the Top model , forward footsteps , wider handlebar ,new grab handle for pillion.
Meteor also gets Bluetooth connectivity ,USB charger along with navigation with turn indication in its sub digital instrument cluster .
From front it gets new Led headlights with day time round Drls and black mirror for base trims .
Engine 
The Meteor gets a brand new 349 cc single cylinder oil cooled engine mated to 5 speed gearbox giving output of 20.2 bhp and 27 NM of peak torque .
Along with dual channel ABS which is enough to stop this 191 kg beast .
The Meteor is offered in 3 models .
Fireball , stellar and premium supernova (dual paint scheme). Also customer can choose from 7 colour options .
Ride and handling 
Meteor is way ahead from the on going Thunderbird350 in terms of refinement .
The fuel tank capacity is 15 ltrs enough to go 450km on a full tank .
It rides effortlessly and goes upto top speed of 120 kmph which will be more after 1st service of the bike  though the sweet spot of riding is between 80 - 90 kmph .With an ground clearance of 170 mm it is sufficient to go off-road trails but should be more if compared to Indian road conditions. Talking about the vibration which one can definitely feel has been worked upon and has gone  very low . 
Claimed mileage of Meteor is 36 kmpl but one can easily get 30 kmpl in day to day usage .
Verdict 
The Meteor is a gud machine for long highway trips and day to day usage ,the bike feel comfortable and long journeys won't be a problem at all .
The bike navigation can only be used with the Royal Enfield app and gives turn by turn indication which is a useful feature and won't require seeing you phone after every few kilometres .
The Meteor is priced between the classic 350 and Himalayan motorcycle.
The on road price of Meteor starts from Rs2,10,000 -2,27,000 (approx) Mumbai .
